There’s a lot I can’t do during Peace Corps. And during this time, I’ve though of a lot of random things I’d like to do or start doing again when I get the chance.
I really want to take salsa classes again. I used to when I was maybe in middle school and loved it. I don’t remember why I stopped, but I want to reconnect with that part of my culture. I’ve been listening to a lot more Latinx music lately, and it feels like home.
I also want to go to an improv class. I think it’s a clever and completely uncomfortable way to get myself practicing speaking agility and conquering social fear.
Cooking classes are also on my list. I’m not a great cook, but I’ve realized how much food means in my life, and I’d love to gain skills that allow me to experiment more (successfully) with cooking. And I want to go to a restaurant featured on Chef’s Table- any of them, many of them, or all of them.
Super random, but I want to learn how to drive a stick shift car. I love driving (only on empty roads, I’m also not a great driver), and I like the idea of manual driving being more involved and active.
Those are the main ones I’ve been thinking about lately. I can’t wait to have access and freedom again. To be myself, dress like myself, return to my social life, learn new things, make new friends, be with old friends and family, feel comfortable.
