I’ve been thinking about my travel plans for the rest of the year. I have everything figured out until July, stay tuned. But after that I’ll have to use the rest of my vacation days by September 12 because volunteers are required to stay in site the last three months of service. During August, there is another travel ban around Eid, a huge Muslim holiday. And I also have my COS conference during the last week of August. I’ll probably travel right before the Eid travel ban to Paris and roam around France. I might also add same days Italy to that trip. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
After service, I’ll hopefully spend several weeks traveling before I come home for the holidays. I want to do more Northern and/or Eastern Europe for that trip. I think I have some family in London, and I would love to go to Berlin and Amsterdam. We’ll see. Send me any suggestions in that area as well!
I feel so lucky to have been able to travel to so many parts of the world. I never really expected that as a kid. I would travel so often to Puerto Rico and a couple of times to Peru, but those places didn’t feel foreign. I was with family, within my culture. But traveling alone and to such diverse places opened my eyes to what travel could do for me. I found homes all over the world and learned so much from them, from the people there, from the languages and cultures.
I can’t wait to get back to Puerto Rico and Peru soon too— hopefully Puerto Rico in December or January and Peru next year sometime. I have so much left to learn about Peru and much more appreciation for my home in Puerto Rico now. I am so looking forward to where life takes me, literally.
